At The Ready

Fighting the Global War on Terrorism, the United States Army remains engaged in two major theaters of war in Afghanistan and Iraq. From the liberation of Iraq and Operation Iraqi Freedom, to the continued hunt for the Taliban and Al Qaeda terrorists in the mountains of Afghanistan and Operation Enduring Freedom, these brave Soldiers are our nation’s first line of defense, and the CGSOC Class of 2006 dedicates this painting to them.

The CGSOC Class of 2006 sought to commemorate two milestones. The first being the 50th Anniversary of the Authorization of the Army flag, symbolized by the Army emblem at the top of the painting. The second milestone is the 125th Anniversary of the Command and General Staff College. Not since World War II have two CGSOC classes run simultaneously. These simultaneous classes mark the Army’s dedication to providing quality leaders to the units and their Soldiers involved in the war on terror. These Soldiers are symbolized in this painting by those rallied around the American Flag. These Soldiers, central to this painting and the heart of our Army, depict the true strength of the Army. These Soldiers have been and always will be “At the Ready.”
