Small French Great-Coat/Over-Coat Flintlock Pistol
Dark patina on wood, turn barrel pistol (do not have a wrench), uses a wrench to turn the barrel off for loading, two stage hexagonal to round barrel turned and slightly swollen at the muzzle to form a classical cannon shape, barrel and breech are marked with the number "2". walnut half stock is engraved with a beautiful floral embellishment behind the top strap, raised wood around the unmarked radiused lockplate and left side plate. Iron trigger guard with finial and iron butt cap, swan neck cock with primitive cock spur. Two stage action works properly. Barrel measures 2 1/2 inches. Overall length is 7 1/2 inches.
Very nice original condition with crisp action, half and full-cock with strong springs and no play, the metal parts smooth and without corrosion, the woodwork good with one small crack to the underside and towards the bottom front lock plate (probably an old shrinkage crack). Very nice example in good honest original condition. No provison for ramrod or makers mark.
