"The Bluefish Blitz" occurs on occasion in the
Outer Banks surf during late October to late November. Big
hungry bluefish, ten to eighteen pounds, returning south from
the Chesapeake Bay and New England waters, travelling in large
schools, attack smaller prey in the Outer Banks surf, driving
them up onto the beach, churning the water and literally attacking
anything that hits the water in their feeding frenzy. Surf
fisherman stand elbow to elbow, casting spoons into the surf,
hooking monster blues virtually on every cast. If you have
been fortunate enough to participate in one of these legendary
bluefish runs, it is an experience that you will remember
the remainder of your life. "Carolina Blues" depicts
surfmen on a moonlit evening on Hatteras Island, North Carolina.
